Todd's first asignment in Vietnam was a Landing Zone Baldy. LZ Baldy was northwest of Chu Lai, in the Quang Nam Provience. LZ Blaby was later redisgned and renamed to Combat Base Baldy because of the growth in size. Some of Todd's duties at LZ Baldy was to man the radio in 12 hour shifts and everyone in the unit had to help deliver supplies to the outlying bases. These supply runs were very dangerous and people did get hurt. On one occasion there was a crash and one one the Marines in the 1st Radio Battalion died. This link give more information to the events of that tragic event. http://www.swanassoc.com/1stradiobn/stories_upshur.htm

Landing Zone Baldy was a very large base. This website will show more pictures from the late 1960s before Todd Leisy got there.
