Invasion of Normandy

The invasion of Normandy was the largest military operation to ever be attempted. The role of the airborne soldiers was to be inserted behind the enemy in order to disrupt the lines and cause chaos to take pressure off of the units landing on the beaches. While the initial drop was not a overwhelming success because of the disorganization of the units, it did achieve its intended goal. Easy company was able to knock out a full battery of guns pointed at Utah beach.
