Training : Camp Toccoa and Beyond
The training recieved by the 506th was something that had never been done before. The combination of basic training as well as jump school was as unique as the units that were participating in the training. The training was particularly grueling including forced marches, daily obstacle course runs, and various prejump training simulators. The simplest of these simulators had the men jumping from 4 foot tall platforms into sawdust, The most complicated of the simulators were 250ft tall towers that would drop the men with a parachute along a guide wire to give the feeling of a controlled jump.
