Description
A canteen left at the Vietnam Memorial in 1995. Writing on the exterior surface of the canteen is addressed to "Rick" and signed ""Fredrick W. Pepper / USN / 1969 - 1973." As indicated by some writing on the object, the canteen was left during a "MARCHE [sic] ON DC. 95 / FOR OUR HERO'S [sic]."
Additionally, an excerpt of the writing reads:
"When you should have been worried about your next date you died [...] I was spared. / You were not. / Today I marche [sic] to fight a different war. / One to save those who our country has abandoned [...] I will never forget you or them."
