He recalled, “we were traveling to Tayninh when we took on enemy fire. The motor Sargent was in the jeep in front of me, he was killed by a hand grenade.” (Ronald, 2018) Looking at the picture of the wrecked jeep floods back memories that he tried for years to forget. Ron was terrified of what he had just witnessed. He was then was put in charge of the motor pool after Sargent, Lewis was killed. He also discussed his memory of all of the firefights that he witnessed. These would take place when his motor pool was called in to fix tanks.  He would be in the middle of a firefight trying to fix tanks. During these trips, he witnessed the death of many people. These deaths were not of just the “evil Vietcong” but also civilian: women and children. Finally, he discussed how familiar he still is with the Ho Chi Minh city trails.
