Conclusion

In his famed book, 1984, George Orwell wrote:

“And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.”

Though this book was written about a fictitious party system, its plot and ideas showcase what propaganda can do to an entire population and how easily they can be controlled simply with the omission of information and additions of lies. Propaganda still remains as one of the most powerful weapons a country can use when trying to control the masses and push an agenda, despite being one of the cruelest weapons we ever used. World War II gave us a massive amount of images, films, and news, all with the same goal: win the war. How different would the outcome of the war have been without it? Would we have been able to supply as many troops? Would we have been able to produce enough to even make a difference?
